The 54th annual exhibition of new work by local artists, members of the Tuesday Painters Club, gets under way on Friday August 18 at 3pm, writes Kenneth Bird. It will be held at St Mary’s Centre in Lion Street and is open till August 28. It is hoped that club president, Dr Richard Baines, will again open the show as in previous years.

Attention all pirates! Why not come and have a go at dinghy sailing for free from 12pm on Saturday August 12 at Rye Harbour Sailing Club? Join in the fun with children’s games, Tombola, Treasure Island, Face Painting and have a go on Pirate Jake’s Bouncy Castle (if it’s not too windy).
