Why Advertise with Rye News?
Rye news is a not-for-profit enterprise being run by volunteers with the purpose of benefiting the local community. Our team of volunteers has been working hard to bring you weekly news, reviews, opinions and events, and we must be doing something right! We our proud to say that our fresh weekly content ensures that we attract a high number of new and return visitors we are now receiving 6,500 visitors per month and have around 690 subscribers (people who sign up to receive free email alerts). These numbers are rising and the good news is – we plan to do much more.
There are very few on line community newspapers in the UK and because they are new we are involved in discovering how to make an online news service work.It provides a forum to discuss issues and promotes Rye and the surrounding area to a local and wider audience. We include regular features which promote Rye as a interesting and vibrant place to live and to visit. Our regular reviews of cultural events include the Rye Arts Festival, Rye Jazz Festival, Food Festivals, Art Exhibitions, Concerts, Kino cinema and other visitor attractions which, as well as providing information for locals, draws in new visitors to Rye. We regularly profile local businesses and have plans to develop service this further.
However in order to develop and survive in the longer term funds will be needed. Some people will need to be paid for routine administrative work and also for specialist skills, technological support and other services needed to run the business.
Rye News was set up with the support of grants from the Wind Farm and Awards for All Lottery. One condition of funding is that we must seek to become self-sustaining in future. We are therefore asking the community itself to support us, both businesses and residents.
Fees & guidelines for designing your advertisement
Our prices are very reasonable. We offer a number of options for advertisements – a square box in the right hand column or a leaderboard at the top of the main pages all of which can rotate with others through the main pages, or if you prefer, we can offer you an advert on a specific page but different prices will apply. Your images should be in jpg format to the exact sizes shown below but if you’re unsure about all that, don’t worry as we can try and put one together for you for a small fee of £25. Sizes are as follows.
- A leaderboard ad – 1000 x 120 pixels (appears at the top of the page) – costs £150 for 3 months (if placed in September & October 2016)
- A Boxed ad 300 x 300 pixels (appears in the right hand column of the page) – costs £50 for three months
- A customised box on a specific page – negotiable
- Skyscraper – negotiable

Add your event – free of charge
Simply complete this Submit an Event form and your event will appear under “What’s On”.
Add an announcement – free of charge
If you have an announcement to make – for example, you want to tell us about the opening a new shop or service that you are starting, or you are looking for people to audition for the local theatre group, etc, then simply complete the Submit an Announcement form and it will appear for up to onoe month on our “What’s New” page. Please note that this section isn’t meant for events – just announcements.
Residents who enjoy reading Rye News are being invited to make donations to help Rye News develop and ensure it has a future.
