The Elysian Centre in Cinque Ports Street is hosting a Summer Art Exhibition featuring Colin Griffith who combines the art of healing through homeopathy and follows his own passion, creating beautiful pots.  As part of the International Jazz Festival over the weekend of August 25 to 27, he will be exhibiting his pots as well as introducing the photographer Desi Fontaine.

Colin Griffith is inspired by culture and history  and influenced by oriental styles from Japan and Korea. Most of his work is in stoneware in a variety of glazes. There will be ceramics from his latest collection and vases, bowls, pots and planters will be for sale.

Desi Fontaine has a lifetime career working in photography. She is an Honorary Fellow of the Master Photographers’ Association and a Fellow of the Societies of Photographers. She is a revered photographer, tutor and international photographic judge. From her studio in Fairlight, Desi works as a portrait photographer and tutors keen amateurs and mentors semi-professional and professional photographers. Combining her love of travel and passion for her craft she has spent many years teaching travel photography to groups of enthusiasts in the UK, the USA, France, Venice, Italy and Cuba.

The exhibition features Fine Art travel images taken with film and taken digitally. Desi will also be  showing her Time Zero Collection, images taken on vintage Polaroid cameras and then hand manipulated to blur the boundaries of film with a painterly look, echoing works of the Impressionists but with a contemporary twist. Framed and unframed images will be on sale.

On Saturday 25 there is a special incentive to attend when the ‘Robert Reid Duo’ is entertaining visitors. Robert Reid (piano) has been inspired by Oscar Peterson and Herbie Hancock. Robert will be joined by double bassist Jerome Davies, a graduate of Trinity College of Music. Davies is an award-winning composer and producer of international renown who has performed at New York’s Blue Note club and accompanied legendary actor Kathleen Turner in her cabaret performances.
