Two new exhibitions open at Rye Art Gallery on March 24. The Rye Society of Artists Spring Show will be in galleries 4-5 and Stable Studio Artists in galleries 2-3.
The Rye Society of Artists (RSA) was established in 1951 and currently includes around 40 members all working from within a 15-mile radius of Rye. The RSA Spring show will include new works by existing members, all for sale. Exhibitors include well-known local artists such as Richard Adams, Gus Cummins, Robert Greenhalf,  Davida Smith, Annie Soudain, Will Taylor and Louis Turpin among others. The show includes photography, sculpture, ceramics, prints and multimedia and will run until April 22.
The Stable Studio Artists are Sally Cole, Anny Evason, Denise Franklin and Sarah Palmer. They work in a building on the edge of the country park, near Fairlight. With their respective backgrounds in printmaking, painting, drawing and clay, the artists share their passions in this exhibition of new work. Their exhibition title “The Common ground” explores how artists relate to the environment, to the visual and sensory stimuli. This exhibition is open till May 6.
