Peasmarsh Memorial Hall hosted the twice yearly (spring and autumn) Fine Arts and Prints Exhibition and Sale on Saturday and Sunday October 13 and 14. Set up by artist Anna Crouch and Michael Preston, of Southeast Art and Framing, this bright, light venue held the work of six artists and two ceramicists. The show was made possible with help from Peasmarsh Hall committee, who donated funds to buy the professional display boards and lighting, the show was an eclectic mix of styles and media.

Visitors to the show view Claire Polley’s work

Newcomers Claire Polley and Janice Edwards were exhibiting for the first time, and one of the pictures shows a group around Claire’s display. Christine King had lovely commission portraits of animals, especially dogs, one of which had come to see his portrait. Christine  specialises in house and animal portraits

Wendy Sabine’s miniatures

Wendy Sabine enjoys her miniature painting best, and explained that there is an overall size which cannot be exceeded for submission to the Miniature Society. Watching her paint a beautiful, tiny kingfisher was a real delight.

Artist Anna Crouch

Anna Crouch’s abstracts were on view at the end of the hall, so different in size and scale from Wendy’s work. It was this variety that made the show so enjoyable. Michael had his art works on display, and a number of local people will be familiar with them, brightly coloured street scenes, for example. The Exhibition can host up to ten artists and is always looking for new talent. Michael and Anna help in the selection of the artists and the works.
