The Foundry Group brought their hilarious pastiche of every wartime propaganda film and broadcast to Appledore Village Hall last week.
Inspired by 1940s’ British light music, Orwell’s 1984 and the Ealing comedies, the show is a piece of clever, hilarious and infectiously tuneful entertainment.
London, 1948. The Ministry of Biscuits casts its sinister shadow over every tea-time and elevenses in the land. Established to “control biscuits and to control the idea of biscuits”, it prohibits all delicious sweet decadent treats. But The Ministry and the world of biscuits is about to be shaken to its very foundations.
Working with Applause Rural Touring, the Village Hall management team staged its first theatrical event at the hall. “It was a huge success,” says Vicki Self, Chair of the team. “We’re already planning the next event.”
