Strange & Sad tales from the Titanic

Strange and Sad tales from the Titanic is a talk presented by local resident and accomplished raconteur, Mr Laton Frewen. Titanic was built at a time the White Star Line was facing an increasing challenge from Cunard’s record-breaking passenger ships. Not designed purely for speed but as a commercially-viable people and cargo carrier she was also the last word in comfort and luxury.

But when RMS Titanic collided with an iceberg then sank into the icy waters of the North Atlantic, she passed into history surrounded by myth and mystery. Despite the discovery of the wrecked ship in 1985, many of the stories remain as puzzling today. Mr Frewen will relate a number of these enigmatic and tragic accounts in his talk.
