Boot Fair success in the sun

Jempsons at Peasmarsh held its final charity boot fair of the season on Bank Holiday Monday, August 28. It was held in aid of the Rye Day Centre and the Rye and District Community Transport  with the proceeds from the sale of the pitches being donated to the charities.

Lots of stalls and car boots!

This time, unlike the one held on May 4, the weather was absolutely stunning. Nothing could have been more different from the sheeting rain that closed the fair before it had really started that day. The car park was full of people buying and selling, with lots of stalls and even a Volkswagen camper van for sale! China and glass, clothes and bric a brac filled the tables, and people were hurrying away with bulging bags of goodies.

The Jempsons store was open, so teas and coffees were easy to come by for the crowds who piled  in, and at one point the car park was pretty much full.  The stall holders were on good form, helped by the sunny skies, and sales were going splendidly. The donations on the gate, too, were doing well. It was all great fun and an excellent way to collect for such good causes.
