Ceroc the night away

If you thought that the early millennium dance craze of Ceroc was over and long forgotten, think again.

One of the dance classes

There are, apparently, over 200 Ceroc venues in the UK alone and dancers from all over the country and of all experience levels descended on Camber Sands last weekend, March 16/17 for two days of classes, dancing and fun, including a pub quiz that involved bad acting and worse accents.

Ceroc may not be the latest in dance but it surely is practised by the most determined and resilient of dancers. Events included a cabaret (performed by the dancers), classes for all levels and lots of dips, turns and freestyle on the dance floor through to 6am on Sunday morning.

For the uninitiated ‘Ceroc’ is said to derive from the French “C’est le roc”, used to describe rock n’ roll dancing in France. Want to have a go? Further information is available from the Ceroc website.
