Sunday’s fair at the Elysian centre raised lots of money towards the cost of running a homoeopathy clinic in Swaziland and provided an ideal opportunity for Christmas shopping.

There was a steady footfall of visitors to the centre on Sunday November 19, for its annual festive fair. Stalls offered handmade jewellery, handbags, haberdashery and furnishings, cards and gift boxes as well as skincare products and Oana’s bespoke photography. In addition, £246 worth of tickets for two raffles were sold, to help run the Swaziland Homeopathy Project’s (SHP) monthly outreach clinic. The SHP is based at the Ekuphileni Wellbeing Centre in Swaziland and is one of the facilities set up to deal with that country’s HIV/AIDS crisis. Since the SHP’s inception in 2008 it has treated over 9,000 patients in rural communities to help improve the quality of their lives.

It costs £25 a month to run an outreach session, so Sunday’s sale raised almost enough for a whole year. Raffle tickets are still on sale and with the draw taking place just before Christmas, there is still lots of time to buy tickets. The first raffle is for a Tsubo pot, based on a traditional Japanese design, thrown by homeopath Colin Griffith. The second raffle has a total of 13 different prizes of reflexology, acupuncture, yoga, cranial osteopathy, Altai massage, Pilates, sound healing and psychotherapy. Anyone wishing to purchase tickets can call into the centre at 18 Cinque Ports Street between 10am and 5:30pm, Monday to Friday.
