Rye Museum will be holding various events in June. The first is a children’s craft afternoon today, Friday June 2, where children can make items on a royal theme – from cardboard castles to a Victorian penny farthing bicycle from a real old Victorian penny. If the children are bored by the end of the holiday or have had too much sun, come along and enjoy yourselves.

On Thursday June 8 the last talk of the season is by Duncan Pennock: “Hop Pickers, their Tokens and Rye Museum”. Duncan has studied the Collection of Hop Tokens in Rye Museum which contains many rare examples. He tells of his discoveries at 7:30pm at East Street Museum.

Later in the month the museum will be holding a Midsummer Fayre on Saturday June 24 at East Street Museum – with many stalls and refreshments – all to raise money to support the museum, which is  independent receives no council funding, and relies heavily on volunteers and donations. Please come along and support these events.
