On a bright sunny morning on Sunday 21 May 75 walkers from the Rye and Winchelsea Rotary Club, some with their dogs, set off at 9am with most taking a 10-mile route which enjoyed some quite spectacular views. A group from the 1st Rye Scouts joined the walk to qualify for their hiking badges.

Views along the Royal Military Canal included nesting swan and Canada geese with their goslings. Drinks were served at Castle Farm, Winchelsea Beach before the final leg back to Rye past Camber Castle.

The Rotary Club thank all those who walked and their sponsors for making the day so successful. The sum of £750 was collected on the day for local charities and the final total, with sponsorship, is expected to be over £2,000.
