Vanishing Sail shows at RHSC

Rye Harbour Sailing Club (RHSC) at The Point, Rye Harbour, will be showing the award winning feature documentary film Vanishing Sail, the story of a Caribbean tradition of boat building, at the club house on Friday November 3.  Vanishing Sail is being shown at various locations throughout the country and abroad and we are extremely fortunate to have this opportunity to show the film.

On the island of Carriacou, West Indies, the last wooden sailboat builder dreams of saving a great tradition passed down the generations from Scottish settlers that sailed here centuries ago.

Stories of the old Caribbean – trading by sail and smuggling contraband interweave a tribute to the independent spirit of this small island community.

The film follows Alwyn Enoe’s journey of resilience and determination over three years, from hauling trees with his sons, to a final traditional launching ceremony of the stunning vessel and a race against time to enter the Antigua Classic Yacht Regatta.

RHSC will provide a pie and mash supper followed by the film for £10 per person.  The club and bar will be open from 7pm.  All are welcome. Please book in advance by Wednesday November 1 by contacting Glenda Wilson via email at andrewandglenda@yahoo.co.uk or call  07808 156352.
