Local residents living along a section of the A259 have been notified by A-one+, working on behalf of Highways England, that the road will be closed, and diversions will be in place, for a number of weeks in April and May.
The work consists of investigation to ascertain the current condition of the A259. This includes trial holes, road cores and a topographical survey to verify ground conditions and locate underground services. They will also be resurfacing sections of the road between Star Crossing and Lamb Farm.
The investigation works will take place from Skinners roundabout in Rye to the Brenzett roundabout between Monday April 23 until Friday May 4. The resurfacing work between Star Crossing and Lamb Farm will be from Tuesday May 8 until Wednesday May 16. The work will take place, and the A259 closed, at night between 8pm and 6am between Monday to Friday. A-one+ have informed residents that work will only be carried out over the weekends ‘as a matter of contingency.’

  1. This is the 3rd time I’ve heard the road is being closed from Skinners roundabout to Brenzett, at least this time something does appear to be going on but only from the Camber turn off. Hopefully that will remain the situation as if it is actually closed from Skinners then A-one+ certainly haven’t advised residents of Camber who would be facing a very lengthy detour if they dare to venture out at night!
