After an extended break the Rye Area Business Forum is hosting two events in the next few weeks.
At the Hope Anchor on Wednesday  May 24, 6pm-7pm the Forum welcomes back Fran Clifford. Following on from her very useful talk last year on how to use social media more effectively for business, Fran and business partner Emily Foster will be updating attendees on the GDPR regulations and how important it is that businesses are compliant with these new data protection rules. The deadline for compliance will be the day after her talk, so really timely, and it really does affect every business, whether a small or medium sized enterprise or people who are self-employed. Fran will be joined in the second half of the presentation by Tony Foster, business coach and expert on team building, to talk about making the most of your staff.
At the Mermaid Inn on Thursday June 21, 6pm-7pm the speaker will be Rother Councillor Sally-Ann Hart, who leads on tourism and leisure. She will be talking about plans to promote the town, networking with other areas throughout Rother, the Marsh and the Weald, about how businesses can work together, not just in the obvious tourist destinations, but how important this is for supporting businesses too.
At this event there will also be an opportunity to ask questions of the volunteers behind the running of Rye Christmas and Sea Festivals and how they generate interest in the town and to learn more about the new Rye Hospitality Guild that is creating an innovative new town-wide apprenticeship scheme to support 16-18 year olds to get into employment.
The Rye Area Business Forum is run by volunteers for the benefit of local businesses. Its aims are “Linking, Lobbying and Learning” and to help anyone with a business interest in the town or neighbouring villages come together. All meetings are free to attend, just come along for an hour with some business cards. Drinks will be available to purchase at the meetings and at the end of each talk there is an opportunity to stay a little longer to network.
If you would like to talk at a meeting in the future, or have ideas on subjects to discuss, they would be very interested to hear from you. Please contact Rebekah Gilbert on info@vivawellbeing.com for more details or join them on Facebook.
