Three Rye Cadets have spent the weekend at Crowborough Army Camp taking part in the very first inter-service cadet challenge.

Cadets from the Sea Cadet Corps, Army Cadet Force and the Air Cadets battled through a series of adventurous activities.

Rye Royal Marine Cadets Jack White, Elliott Spall and Reece Martin took part in activities including raft building, air rifle shooting, speed marching, first-aid scenarios and an arduous obstacle course.

Chief Petty Officer Steven Smith, Officer in Charge of the Rye Unit, said: “I am very proud of our three cadets taking part in the first ever inter-service cadet challenge. It was a challenging weekend with temperatures at Crowborough Army Camp reaching 27C [81F]. Our three cadets showed true grit and determination.”

Rye Sea Cadets are now recruiting for juniors 10-12 years old, meeting on Fridays from 7-9pm, and seniors 12-18, meeting on Mondays and Fridays from 7pm-9pm. Phone 01797 224270 (Monday and Friday evenings), email info@tsrye.fsnet.co.uk or come and see for yourself at Rock Channel, Rye, TN31 7HL.
