The George, in the High Street

The George in Rye made RHSC Sailability one of their chosen charities and recently donated over £1,000. The George has, for some years now, supported RHSC Sailability by allowing the use of their sumptuous Ballroom and Benson room for the Sailability annual auction and dinner, all of which have been extremely successful. Without the support of the George we wouldn’t have had such successful outcomes for the auctions. Once again the George is supporting the charity with this generous donation – a huge thank you from the RHSC Sailability team!
We held one of our regular meetings in January and although we would love to push ahead with the purchase of a new boat, an RS Venture, we need to focus on buying a rescue boat which is essential for the safe running of our Sailability sessions. We are an inclusive club and our intention is to run our free Sailability taster sailing sessions alongside RHSC taster days. We shall be applying for a grant, but know we shall have a shortfall of funds and this generous donation will help fill this funding gap.
Thank you again to The George in Rye!
RHSC Sailability was set up last year and was launched successfully in August. The aim is to give people with disabilities the chance to get out onto the water in a dinghy with an experienced volunteer skipper and trained crew member. During the winter we hold Sailability coaching/social events and during the summer sailing season we hold free monthly taster sessions which begin with the annual RYA Push the Boat Out (PTBO) event. Everyone is welcome to join us at The Point, Rye Harbour, East Sussex TN31 7TU.
