With bonfire season well under way, final touches are being made in Northiam for the society’s fourth annual torchlight procession and firework display on Saturday, October 8.

Joining the Northiam crew in their distinctive black and purple highwaymen costumes will be around 10 visiting societies including Rye, Hastings and Battle, and three drumming groups: Earthquake, Section 5 and Drumskullz.

The length of the route is a little shorter than previously, running from the bonfire field, past the surgery car park, up past the church, back down to the main road and returning to the bonfire field.

Local charities being supported this year are Helping Hands, Northiam, and Little Gate Farm, Beckley.

A bar, food and amusements will be available on the field and a collection will be taken along the route. The torchlit procession starts at 7:50pm from the bonfire field (entrance £1) and the fire will be lit at approximately 8:30pm. Parking is banned along the procession route from 6pm and the A28 through Northiam will be closed from 6:30pm-11pm. Find more information and a map of the route here.

The next bonfire in the season is Hastings on Saturday, October 15, with Rye readying itself for its annual spectacular on November 12.
