Hall repairs hit the heights

The ceiling in the main hall of Rye’s Community Centre on Conduit Hill has been replaced at a cost of some £10,000. The urgent repairs were signalled by Geoff Boudreau, the centre’s association chairman at the annual meeting in November 2013. Part of the cost was met by grant-funding from the Little Cheyne Court Wind Farm and The Rye Fund. Rye & District Lions Club also stumped up £1,000.

Boudreau told the AGM that although hall hire revenue was slightly down on the year “we are weathering the recession in good shape”. Long-term users include the Women’s Institute, 40 years, the Rye Dance Centre, 30 years, and Rye Film Club, 15 years. “We’re looking forward to another good year for the centre, with a high level of usage and support from the local community,” Boudreau added.
