Repairs to close railway

If you’re travelling to the west of Rye over the next few weeks, you really need to check your route and timings very carefully well in advance of your travel.

This is because there will be no services scheduled on two very busy sections of line between Three Bridges and Brighton and Three Bridges and Lewes. Extensive works will take place on these lines over the nine days February 16-24 and, possibly, several subsequent weekends.

Bus replacement services will substitute for ALL normal services over this period. Trains towards London will operate via Littlehampton and Horsham but this route would result in a significant increase in journey time (by an hour or so).

During this closure period, tickets from the Brighton/ Lewes area will be accepted on a wide range of alternative rail and bus services, including Southern’s services along the MarshLink via Rye.

So, check your journey plans well in advance of travelling at www.nationalrail.co.uk or https://brightonmainline.co.uk/ where you can find out more detailed reasons for the works being undertaken.

[Editor’s note: This may, at first glance, appear to be out of our region, but will certainly affect anyone heading for the snow (or sun) via Gatwick during this period]
