Rye foodbank updates funding

Demand for help from our town’s foodbank remains at the heightened level experienced widely over the UK and we are beginning to wonder whether this is part of a long-term trend. Our  exchequer has been boosted since my comments on March 7 in Rye News by contributions amounting to over £1000. Supplies of food and toiletries have come in from all quarters including our churches, Rye primary school, our supermarkets, shops and generous individuals. Also much appreciated are offers of voluntary help and, whilst we are currently well staffed in this connection, all names are noted for the future.

Thank you everyone – food banks are costly in terms of money and volunteer effort and we need all the help we can get. We are encouraged that the town is there for us.

If you can help please get in touch with me, John Gurney, on 01797 222442 or by email jgurney1@hotmail.co.uk.

Cheques are welcome and these should be made payable to Bexhill Foodbank Rye Branch and sent to me at Watchbell Corner, Traders Passage, Rye TN31 7EX. The registered charity, No. 1149860, is eligible for gift aid.
