The prestigious RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects) Stirling Prize for 2018 has been won by Foster + Partners, for designing the new Bloomberg Building in the City of London. Foster’s senior partner is Rye resident Michael Jones, who was also the lead Architect for this project.

This is the third time that the architectural practice has won the prize for the best building in the UK. The £1 billion office building for the global media company Bloomberg’s European HQ has been described as the largest stone building built in the City of London since St Paul’s Cathedral. RIBA president Ben Derbyshire has hailed the project as “a monumental achievement”.
