The residents of Sedlescombe voted overwhelmingly on March 15 to support their Neighbourhood Plan. 86% voted in favour with a turnout of 46%.
Sedlescombe is the first of a number of parishes in Rother District to vote on a local plan. Planning applications for housing and other facilities within Sedlescombe will be determined against the Neighbourhood Plan, alongside existing local authorities’ relevant planning policies (both East Sussex County Council and Rother District Council) and the National Planning Policy Framework.
The result has been submitted to Rother District Council, who at their Cabinet meeting on April 9 will recommend its formal adoption to become part of the statutory Development Plan for the area. The final approval will take place at an extraordinary meeting of the full Council on Monday April 23.
Rye is also one of a handful of parishes in Rother to develop a plan. The consultation on Rye’s Neighbourhood Plan, which includes suggested locations for new housing and a proposed new supermarket, closes on Friday April 6. You can read the Rye Neighbourhood Plan and make comments on its website.
