Southern and MLAG open evening

As reported last week, Southern Railway representatives will be at Rye Town Hall on Thursday, November 29 starting at 7:15pm to comment on the May 2018 timetable and to answer questions from attendees.

Representing Southern will be:
Phil Hutchinson (Govia’s Head of Strategic Planning) – He has a particular knowledge of timetabling issues: he spoke at MLAG’s post AGM meeting earlier this year to introduce the May 2018 timetable and is well placed to speak about how the new timetable is operating;
Andy Leister (Govia’s Head of Stations) – MLAG members have reported some issues with stations and we trust Andy Leister will be able to address those.

There will also be additional presentations on:
– the survey MLAG instigated in May to seek passenger views; and
– a current overview of the proposed Javelin project to bring the direct service to the MarshLink.

We intend there being enough time available to enable attendees to make their own comments and put their own questions and for our guests to respond.

It is hoped that as many regular train users as possible will attend.

  1. If peak train services next week are anything like they have been this week, I doubt many commuters will be home in time to attend.

    As Rye commuters have raised numerous times. The new timetable from May does not work for Rye commuters as it is now geared up for the Rye shuttle which has been cancelled about 4 times in the last 5 days.

    Rye commuters have called for full reinstatement of the pre May morning and evening peak timetable which has been ignored by Southern and other marshlink rail groups.

  2. Well Monday morning has started in the same vein, trains cancelled at the last minute and another new excuse.
    It seems that if any train needs to be cancelled/amended it’s always the Rye shuttle whichever end of the day it is.
    As above, the timetable changes of May made this service all the more critical to get to and from work at decent time and yet it seems to be the first service southern cancel.
