There was blood on the street

After reports of a fight near the railway crossing in Ferry Road in the early hours of Saturday morning, the following statement was issued by Sussex Police:

At 2:43am on Saturday, August 6, police were called to Ferry Road, Rye, following reports of a fight. A 19-year-old man from Iden Green, near Cranbrook, Kent, was found to have sustained cuts and bruises and was taken by ambulance to the Conquest Hospital, St Leonards-on-Sea, where he was treated and later allowed home. Enquiries into the incident are continuing and anyone with information is asked to email 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk or phone 101, quoting serial 197 of 06/08.

A large bloodstain, a foot in diameter, remained on the roadway outside the Queen Adelaide pub the following day.
