Casuals hold on to the ball despite Peche Hill challenge

It was a good weekend for Icklesham Casuals with the 1st team maintaining their position at the top of Division Two, while the 2nd team recorded their first victory of the season.

The 1st team were ahead inside the opening minute in their game with Peche Hill Select at Tilekiln when Sam Norman converted Charlie Cornford’s cross. The team had chances to increase the lead with Peche Hill also producing a couple of decent moves of their own. The match was more or less settled just before the interval, when firstly Charlie Cornford finished a fine solo effort and then Steffan Davies netted to make it 3-0 at the break.

Steffan Davies added two more early in the second period to complete his hat-trick.  Charlie Cornford notched his second of the game and substitute Jack Hobden rounded off the scoring in the final few minutes to make the final score 7-0.

The 2nd team defeated AFC Hollington 4-2 and the result should been more comfortable than it was. Phil Badrock scored his first two competitive goals of the season, with Adam Knight and Chris Osunsami from the penalty spot the other scorers. The win moves the side into a mid-table position.
