The 2nd team of Icklesham Casuals played well for three quarters of the game at home to Division Four leaders Hampden Park on Saturday, but then a disastrous period led to a 7-4 defeat.

George Barrow gave Icklesham a perfect start in the opening minute when he picked up the ball just over the half-way line and ran through to finish. Goalkeeper Michael Watson then doubled the lead when his drop kick bounced over the head of his opposite number in the Hampden Park goal.

Hampden Park pulled the score back to 2-2 by the interval but the Casuals regained their two-goal advantage by mid-way through the second half with Joe Maylam winning a penalty and converting it himself to make it 3-2 and Charlie Cornford adding a fourth.

With Icklesham looking in control of the game, chaos then ensued in defence and five goals were conceded in just 16 minutes for a first defeat for the side in seven matches.

The 1st team match away to Horsham Crusaders Reserves in the third round of the Sussex Junior Cup was postponed due to the weather. The game has been rescheduled for December 15. This week the 1st team are in action in the second round of the Hastings Junior Cup with a home game against Bexhill Broncos while the 2nd team are without a fixture.
