Cricket Club celebrate fine year

Rye Cricket Club Annual Awards Evening was held at The Sidney Allnutt Pavilion on Saturday, September 1. Rye Cricket Club celebrated a great 2018, with the 1st XI winning the Sussex Cricket League Division 4 East Title, in addition to the Indoor League and Cup Double. It was an achievement built on the hard work by the club to develop as many young players as possible. On Saturday, of the 33 players representing the club, 25 had or are still playing, in the Rye Colts Section. The Awards were presented by Jill Merricks and Cherry Merricks, as the club presented the Richard Merricks Shield for Clubman of the Year.

A big thank you was extended to all those who support Rye Cricket Club. Kevin Jury as Chairman, James Jury as Treasurer, and all the team captains, John Mackenzie running the U15s, all those who help with coaching both winter and summer, and in particular Chris Ashbee for all his hard work, not only running the bar, but stocking up, cleaning, disposing of rubbish and looking after the area outside the pavilion.
