Both Icklesham Casuals teams were due to be playing at Bexhill Road last Saturday but due to the tragic events of the previous evening in that area the 1st team match against St. Leonards Social II in the Hastings Junior Cup was postponed and the 2nd team game against AFC Hollington was switched to Helenswood Sports Centre.
The 2nd team returned to winning ways with a 4-1 victory. They were pinned back early on by their opponents and had only two attacks in the opening twenty minutes but on each occasion found the back of the net. Lee Pierce opened the scoring and Liam Sayer then netted his first goal for the club. The score remained 2-0 until the interval but early in the second half AFC Hollington pulled a goal back through Michael Taylor.
The two goal advantage was restored when Sayer was fouled in the area and Adam Knight converted the penalty. The game was fairly comfortable after that with Sayer adding a fourth with his second goal of the match.
This Saturday the 1st team are due to play their first league match since the 9th December when they take on Wittersham at Icklesham Recreation Ground with the 2nd team away to Herstmonceux II.
