Rye Town knocked out

Rye Town FC travelled to the Polegrove to play Bexhill Town in the Hastings FA Intermediate Cup Quarter Final on Saturday February 9. Following a 10am pitch inspection the game was given the go-ahead by the referee.

Town continued their excellent start of the new year and put in another fine performance.  But alas, in the 17th minute, Bexhill Town, the current premier league leaders, went in front and the solitary goal was enough to take them through to the semi-final with a 1-0 victory.

Rye Heating’s man-of-the-match award went to Luke Willis, and the match sponsors were the Queen’s Head, Rye.

This Saturday, February 16, Rye entertain Battle Baptists, third placed in the league, at Rye Rugby Club, kick off is at 2pm. The match will be sponsored by Tom Jebb Decorating Services.

On Saturday February 23 Town are at home versus Bexhill United II in the quarter final of the Robertsbridge Intermediate Cup, kick off is at 1:30pm.  The match sponsors are The Mermaid Inn, Rye.

Following this weekend’s game’ there will be four league games remaining for the rest of the season: a home tie against Sedlescombe Rangers and three away fixtures versus Bexhill Town, Hawkhurst United and Northiam 75 I.

Rye Town FC are the current holders of the East Sussex Football League Premier Travel Cup and await the winners of Hollington II and Sedlescombe Rangers to see who they will face in the semi final.
