SUMMARY:Rye Arts Festival Tangram
DESCRIPTION:PERFORMERS:\nAlex Ho, Reylon Yount, Beibei Wang, Daniel Shao\nSPONSORS:\nRC Joinery and Ethel loves me\nFACILITIES:\n\nWheelchair access\nHearing loop\nBar\n\nTangram is an artist collective that creates and curates new music of the Chinese diaspora. They are recipients of the Artist Development Bursary from Chinese Arts Now and made their debut to a sell-out audience at the inaugural Chinese Arts Now Festival in London in January 2019.\nAs artists from various backgrounds, the group weaves a path between the worlds of European classical music and Chinese music, sharing a common desire to explore conceptions of the Chinese diaspora in different ways.\nTangram present a programme inspired by Chinese folk melodies including a world premiere by Sun Keting. Through arrangements and contemporary compositions inspired by folk traditions and written for both Chinese and western instruments, they show the richness and variety of Chinese culture and how it has shaped new music today. Tangram are hugely grateful to the Countess of Munster Trust for supporting this concert.\nFREE WORKSHOP  Tangram will give a one hour workshop at 5.45pm before the concert. Come and discover the yangqin, a traditional Chinese instrument, as Reylon Yount demonstrates its remarkable sounds and how composers have written for the instrument. The group will also introduce its evening concert programme and talk about Tangram’s mission to break down imagined barriers between China and the West and to explore new sounds and ideas for Chinese and western instruments.\nARTISTS\nDaniel Shao – Flute\nNaomi Woo – Piano,\nReylon Yount – Yangqin\nSun Keting – Composer,\nAlex Ho – Arranger\nPROGRAMME\nThree Six Folk Song (arr.
