Rye Arts Festival kicks off with a carnival procession and a Cajun band, swiftly followed by the Duke of Wellington, a mini version of the Battle of Waterloo, a dead banker on Dungeness beach, three pianists in two days in St Mary's, pop-up studios and exhibitions and some 60 events in all over the next two weeks
