Drumbeat for Rex Swain

The funeral cortege was accompanied by solemn drum beats on its passage to St Mary’s church for Rex Swain’s funeral on Wednesday March 9.

Outside the Town Hall, stood Paul Goring the current town crier, the Rector Paul White and two town criers from Hastings and Battle. The small crowd outside the church observed some moments of silence in tribute to the former town crier.

  1. Hi Kenneth – may I make a brief correction? The visiting Town Criers in your photo are actually from Hastings and Bognor Regis (not Battle). The Town Crier of Tunbridge Wells was also present, but arrived after your photo was taken.
