Empty, but not for long

Not surprisingly, there are many vacant commercial premises in Rye at present. Some may sadly be victims of the pandemic but, for whatever the reason, empty shops don’t do the town any favours. Thankfully we all live in a pretty affluent area, the appeal of Rye will attract visitors whatever (when they are allowed to shop here again) and, whilst businesses may come and go, many shops don’t stay empty for long.

Two recent examples of an expanding business is Handmade Rugs who have recently taken over the shop formerly occupied by estate agents, Anderson Hacking in Cinque Ports Street. The mystery of who will occupy the premises at 3 Landgate, formerly occupied by Pale & Interesting, has also now been solved as Handmade Rugs have also taken this over too.

It’s encouraging to see businesses expanding given the current economic climate and we wish them every success, and the new ventures will complement the already established business of antique and vintage carpets and rugs in Market Road, pictured below.
