Enjoying one allowed exercise a day

Its the start of week three in lockdown and it must be getting harder for families and people living on their own to continue isolating, especially now the weather is so warm. I don’t have a garden so divide the week’s exercise outings between going down to the allotment and a bike ride to Rye Harbour. Luckily a friend offered to dig up most of my share of the allotment (keeping socially distant) and I was able to put compost on it to plant strawberries, two rose bushes and of course rhubarb.

My first attempt as a learning gardener – so proud

Being a novice at this, my first attempt for my wild flower bed to attract butterflies and bees didn’t quite happen. However, a small bed was more manageable and my first flowers appeared for Easter.

On the ride to Rye Harbour I only met one or two other bikers and no-one in front of William the Conqueror which of course is shut. It’s very peaceful to sit and read. On Tuesday, April 7, with a bit more energy I cycled right down to the sea front. It was very interesting as it was near impossible to get to the beach because of shingle hills. If I remember correctly usually the shingle is being moved about now to the other end of the beach towards Pett. The reason for leaving it could be to discourage people to congregate at the beach or pehaps the person who would normally do it is not allowed to, although in the past, it has been one person per lorry. One could climb round the hill but then there was another and it was time to give up. There were very few people walking down the path so obviously no problem keeping appropriate distances. Wishing everyone health and well being.

That’s what I really was aiming at, next year
