St. Mary’s church has a spectacular offer for local residents…

We want everyone who lives in the parish of Rye and Rye Harbour to have the opportunity to view your town from St Mary’s tower free of charge.

Therefore, on Monday, April 4 (which is the start of the school holidays) anyone who lives in TN31 will be able to take themselves and their family up the tower for free.

If the day is a success then we hope to be able to offer this several times each year.

However, if you are unable to make this date, and can’t wait until the next free day is announced, please be aware that if you join the Friends of St Mary’s then this includes unlimited trips up the tower for the year or if you pay for one trip up the tower and gift aid the entrance fee then you can also use that ticket as free entry for the year. So there are lots of ways to get cost-effective entry.

The small print: Please bring some form of ID showing your TN31 address. The tower is open from 9am until 4:30pm which means that last entry to the tower will be about 4:15pm. The number of people who are allowed up the tower at any one time is limited so you may be required to wait until it is safe.

The climb up the tower does involve stairs, ladders, and some narrow squeezes and low headroom – so only attempt the climb if you are fit and confident to do so. You are responsible for any children that you bring. The person on duty at the desk has the right to refuse entry if they have any concerns about health and safety.

Finally, we may need to close the tower at short notice if another storm comes through!
