So many of us have either been affected personally or know someone who has been cared for by the incredible ‘family’ of nursing staff at St Michael’s Hospice.

Tom Loughlin

Fundraising is an essential part of every day life and without the good will and hard work of the amazing army of supporters the hospice would not be able to function.

Michael Burt is one of those loyal supporters and as a tribute to the memory of a close family member he has taken up the mantle and organised a Summer Gala Concert at Powder Mills Hotel, Battle on Sunday August 18, starting at 2pm.

Danielle Louise Thomas

Artistes include classical tenor Tom Loughlin, who has performed in many concerts and choral works and sung professionally in the Edinburgh Festival Chorus and the Bergen Festival Chorus. He has also appeared as a guest soloist in many prestigious venues including London’s West End.

Danielle Louise Thomas is a classically trained mezzo soprano and regularly performs in support of the British armed forces. She visited Rye twice last year, first as a guest of Russell Watson at the Rye Jazz Festival and later in the year performed with Aled Jones at his concert.

Ollie Mulkeen

Ollie Mulkeen is an international vocal entertainer and musician. Gaining a music scholarship to Harrow School, he played with the National Youth Orchestra and is a regular entertainer with his own show on the finest cruise ships. He combines a smooth velvet voice with an incredible talent on the trumpet.

At £15 for adults and £2.50 for children, tickets are very reasonably priced which may well guarantee a sell out event.

Curtain up is at 2pm and if you haven’t eaten by then, the hotel will prepare a pre-concert lunch, picnic or afternoon tea which you can book directly with Powder Mills Hotel on 01424 775511.

Tickets are on a first come first served basis and are selling well, what a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon listening to live music in a beautiful setting and at the same time doing your bit to support such a worthwhile cause.

Tickets are available via Hastings Tourist Information Centre on 01424 451111 or on line via smhconcert.eventbrite.co.uk.
