The money raised is yet to be counted, but St Michael’s Hospice will benefit from all the hard work it took to organise last Sunday’s tractor run which drew over 70 tractors and riders, many had trailers with hay bales and even sofas on board allowing families to join in the fun and sit in mild comfort as they bounced along the country lanes.
The whole event was a great day out for all the family.
Thanks go to Dave Scott who donated his field for the vehicles to park up before leaving the Cross Inn at Staplecross where Robin Mathews and his team provided bacon sandwiches and coffee. Then the procession continued through 26 miles of stunning Sussex countryside, stopping at half time at Geoff Adam’s stunning farm for hot food and drinks provided by Bob, Gill & Jodie Davies, Julia Fellows and the team who donated a whopping £530 to the charity pot from the days takings.
The agricultural cavalcade was kept moving thanks to traffic marshals Chris Cutting, Heidi Berry, Steve Christmas, Craig McCarthy and Tim Morgan. Phil Dann and Dean Burgess raised a fabulous £1200 between them and thanks must also go to an army of supporters including Jewsons, Blackbrooks Garden Centre, Advertex, McKimmie construction, Blake building, Burden Brothers, Newbles, Rawlings, Pump House Design, Londis Staplecross and Carley construction who all helped make it happen.

The organisers included Chris Forman, Danielle Mathews, Robert Fifield, Katie & Pete Butler, Alison Butler and Napper who all worked so hard and will soon be planning next year’s event. Be sure to be there, but if you didn’t make it this time you could witness an amazing sight and meet some fabulous and genuine grass roots enthusiasts raising money for such a worthy cause.
