We all know what hospices are for, but maybe not how to go about accessing their services, writes Jane Nunn. What sort of care is offered? Do you have to be an in-patient or can they help you in your own home? Jane Cave, head of voluntary services at St Michael’s in St Leonard’s-on-Sea, our local hospice, will explain all in the first of this year’s healthy living events, organised jointly by the patient participation groups of the two doctors’ surgeries in Rye. She will also describe the work of the Sara Lee Trust, a charity that supports cancer patients. The event is on Wednesday June 10, 6pm for 6.30pm, at Rye Community Primary School (free parking at the Love Lane entrance). Refreshments and a raffle are included – and entrance is free.
