Rye Hospital’s Summer Fete kicks off at 2pm on Saturday June 13, at the top of Rye Hill and will be opened by local MP Amber Rudd. Attractions for all the family include a bouncy castle, donkey rides on Candy and Floss and face painting, together with stalls selling plants, jewellery, pottery, cakes, books, toys and bric-a-brac.

There is a grand raffle with prizes galore, including a private plane ride to Le Touquet,  dinner, bed and breakfast at the historic Mermaid Inn, an iPad mini, membership of Kino Digital in Rye;, a boating trip to Bodiam Castle and a breadmaking course – all donated by businesses keen to support the hospital.

Rye Boxing Club will be giving a lively demonstration and other attractions include “Splat the Rat”, a Treasure Hunt for children and the Slippery Pole. Music from Main Street and the Rye Ukulele Experiment can be enjoyed along with a beer and Pimms stall and a vintage tea tent with teas and ice creams, cakes and jam. Admission and parking are free and Rye Community Transport is organising a regular service from Tilling Green to the hospital.

Come and find out about your hospital and have some fun, 2-5 pm. For further information phone 01797 223810. The hospital is in the process of refurbishing its reception and entrance hall and there will be guided tours on the day. The George in Rye is the overall sponsor of the fete this year.
