Seventy-three employees at family-owned independent supermarket Jempson’s in Peasmarsh have gifted over 100 Christmas presents to the Kipling Children’s Ward at the Conquest Hospital in Hastings, for those who will be in hospital over the festive season.

Abbey Tank said: “My colleagues and I decided that after such a tumultuous year, instead of our usual ‘Secret Santa’, it would be a truly lovely gesture to give presents instead to those children in our local hospital who cannot be home with their families this Christmas, and will have further visiting restrictions due to Covid”,

She continued: “We have presents for boys and girls of all ages, from newborns to 10+ which were chosen by the team, then wrapped and labelled. We hope that this is a little something that will help brighten-up their time whilst they are recuperating”

Gifts were donated to ward nurses and will be distributed on Christmas morning.
