If like me you are missing regular contact with your grandchildren during lockdown, but have found that online conversations aren’t always entirely successful with little ones, you may like to be join in the granny network, a forum to share suggestions for ways to make communicating online focussed and fun.

After being inspired by a feature on Woman’s Hour, where listeners were ringing in with suggestions such as quizzes, games, storytelling and views on various technologies, I thought it would be helpful to find a way to help us grandmothers share our creative ideas.

So with plenty of hours to fill, it seemed a good time to put the skills I had learnt in the early days of helping to set up Rye News, to good use and www.nanasblog.co.uk was born.

If any would like to share how you are successfully communicating with your grandchildren online, please comment on the blog posts, or send your suggestions to me to put on the blog at nana@nanasblog.co.uk

Another spin off is that their parents with be very grateful to you for giving them some much needed respite as you might be reading a bedtime story at the end of the day rather than them!
