Rother District Council’s citizens’ advice bureau (CAB) is run from the premises at Bank Chambers, Buckhurst Road, Bexhill-on-Sea. In addition it operates drop in sessions for all initial services. They also provides outreach sessions in Battle, Robertsbridge, Burwash, Northiam and Rye. The CAB people gives free, independent and confidential advice. The subjects range from benefit claims, employment rights, debt problems to many other issues. More general information is on their website  or by phone on 01424 215055/734549

The Rye CAB branch is in Rye Library every Tuesday. It is open in the morning from 10:30am to 12:30pm and in the afternoon from 1:30pm to 3:30pm. It is necessary to book an appointment in advance by phone (01424 221146) or with library staff. The national CAB Adviceline is available on 03444 111444, with a local online service where you can choose a specific issue where help is needed.

Claire Lands ready to give advice

NatWest has set up a help desk in the library which is run by Claire Lands on Tuesday afternoon from 1:30pm to 3:30pm. Claire does not deal with cheques and cash, this can be dealt with in the mobile branch in the car park of the River Haven Hotel, every Thursday between 1:15pm and 2:15pm. Claire can give support with any online issues, scams and other bank advice. She explained that day to day transactions can be done at the post office.
