On Monday April 30, Rye and District Camera Club’s 2017-18 season came to an end with the AGM which featured the presentation of cups, trophies and certificates to those members who had won print and P.D.I (projected digital image) competitions throughout the season.
Both P.D.I. secretary Nick Chillingworth and Print Secretary and club chairman John Trowell reported a high number of entries this season, and in fact entries were higher than they had been in many years.
This season’s winners were: Don Clarke, Wildlife; Veryan Pollard, Open subject; Tony Ham, Holidays and Travel; John Lett, Human  Portrait; Paul Whiteman, Cinque Ports Water competition; Shirley Lancaster, Cinque Ports Open competition; and Geoff Cooke, Dereck Hester Print.
Norman Ferguson won the Peter Chillingworth Shield, Print of the year and P.D.I. of the year; Helen Taylor won the Roy Stubbs Monochrome and the members challenge panel, and Colin Page won the public’s favourite print at the club’s exhibition.
Finally the biggest winner of all was Tony Sharp, who won the Mather Partlett, George Delemare, Digital Art, Gostrow Print and Small Print trophies.
The next season starts in September, in time for the annual exhibition. The club is always on the lookout for new members, please feel free to contact us through the club’s website and social media, or come along to the exhibition at S. Mary’s Centre in September.
