Platinum jubilee details

Earlier articles have detailed activities being planned around Rye for the platinum jubilee, and the official Rye Jubilee website is available here.

It is good to see that some Rye businesses are decorating their windows with jubilee material.

Please note that the two parties being organised centrally, the Tea Party in the Tilling Green Centre on Friday, June 3 and the Big Lunch in the Rye Community Centre on Sunday, June 5 are now fully booked.

Details of the civic service in St Mary’s Church at 5pm on Sunday, June 5 are now confirmed. It is hoped that representatives from the many local branches of national organisations and services with royal patronage or connection will process to the church leaving from the front of the town hall from 4.50 pm. Public and congregation seated in the church by 4:45pm please.

If you are planning an event, such as a street party or contributing to one that is being planned by others then do get in touch. In particular, please check to see that your event is recorded on the Rye website.

There is also a Facebook page at @ryeplatinumjubilee.
