Following its successful collection days in Rye High Street and Market Road, Rye and Winchelsea Rotary Club has announced that it will be awarding cheques of £500 each to the following six charities: the Alzheimer’s Society,  the Sara Lee Trust, Rye & District Community Transport, the KSF Trust that tackles ebola in Sierra Leone, Rother Responders and the Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance, writes Derrick Holman. Formal presentations, it is hoped, will be made over the next few weeks so that the £3,000 can be put to immediate use. Robert Holland, the Rotary president, thanked club members for the collection efforts, sometimes carried out in horrid weather, as well as the public for their generosity and response to the named charities.
