As with all organisations, we have been heavily impacted by the coronavirus pandemic, having to shut the unit on Monday, March 16 for the first time since we were formed in the early 1950s.

Since then my dedicated team of volunteers have continued to work hard understanding what we can, and can’t still, do and offering a virtual parade night on Microsoft Teams once a week.

We have some amazing cadets from the town and surrounding area who continue to work hard with us with two of our juniors, JSC Morgan and JSC Kyle recently being promoted to the rate of Able Junior Sea Cadet and just this week Cdt 1st Class Jamie being promoted to the rate of Ordinary cadet. Two of our Royal Marines Cadets continue to work towards a future advancement board to be made Lance Corporals.

My thanks go out to everyone involved, both cadets and staff.

We continue to be advised by government and our own headquarters information while we start to work towards being able to throw back open the doors and start to get back to doing all the things our cadets like the most.
