Shoppers pop into pop-up

The former Martello bookshop was doing a roaring trade on Saturday (December 6) as the Rye Studio School took over the High Street premises in Rye and threw open the doors for one day only, selling wares created by fashion, textiles and graphic design students.

Sophie Wood in year 12 told us that the students had been working on pieces for  the show since October, using different techniques and fabrics. Christmas shoppers received a warm welcome from the students and responded by snapping up cards, tote bags, clothes and other unique items.

The pop up will be rising again in Hastings on Saturday December 13, in the old Accessorise shop in Priory Meadow (10am-4:30pm). The students also hope to establish a permanent online presence on etsy.com/uk, the website that brings together retailers of handmade and vintage items.
