Andy Dinsdale from Strandliners Community Interest Company (CIC) wants to give a huge thank you to everyone who joined a beach or river clean up and survey in 2019, participants who got involved in training, supported promotional events or uploaded photos of interesting transatlantic plastic and goose barnacles to Rye Bay Beachcombing Magazine. And most important he thanks people for giving their time and for the occasional cakes/biscuits which appear at meetings.
Andy hopes very much that the volunteers who worked with him in 2019 will return and perhaps new recruits will be interested in joining the beach clean-ups in 2020. The first date for a beach cleaning walk is Saturday, January 4 at Pett Level, Fairlight and Cliff End, meet at 10am. As there is a maximum of 20 in the group (walking on shingle and rock) it is necessary to book so if anyone would like to be part of it please email Andy at strandlinersCIC@gmail.com. He is also planning beach surveys at Dungeness and hopes to start monthly survey walks at this remote site to get more accurate debris data. It may last for two hours and include a 60 minute walk on shingles. The maximum number of participants will be 16. Please use the email above for further information.
