The border fronting the Grade II listed pump and brick cistern in Wish Ward has recently enjoyed a face lift, writes Ray Prewer. It had been looking rather untidy as Rother District Council had decided not to include it in its grounds maintenance contract. At a meeting at the end of June, Rye Town Council agreed to spend up to £250 on replacing the  flower bed with a low maintenance planting scheme. Rother had indicated that it was happy for Rye to take over this responsibility. The newly tidied border is pictured above.
